In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor and the resulting worldwide outcry for justice and civil rights I will be committing %30 of my profits for 3 months to organizations involved in ending systemic racism.

I have chosen these three to begin with but they may change over time, and I am very open to learning about new ones. I will keep this updated as to where donations are currently going.

NAACP

The NAACP has a rich history of advocasy dating back to 1908. From legislating against “Lynch Mob’s” to fighting economic injustice during the Great Depression, and posting bail for hundreds of protesters during the civil rights movement, they continue to hold a strong presence of change in our country.

West Broadway Fund

North Minneapolis was one of the communities hit hard by the rioting here in Minneapolis. For me this is also as local as it gets. I live just across the river from this neighborhood. WBC currently has a fund setup to support businesses in this neighborhood that have been impacted by COVID-19 and the damage from the riots.

HOCMN

Minnesota has one of the largest gaps in home ownership by race. Minneapolis and Saint Paul have a horrifying record of anti-black home and community practices, from dividing the Rondo Neighborhood, to statements like this being written into deeds for certain neighborhoods such as Nokomis, “Premises shall not be sold, mortgaged, or leased to or occupied by any person or persons other than members of the Caucasian race.”

The Minnesota Homeownership Center promotes and advances successful homeownership in Minnesota, helping to reduce the racial disparity we find in our states housing market.

Transparency and Details

  • I will calculate profit as (total invoice) - (Project specific expenses that are paid to an entity outside of myself, i.e cost of renting equipment, or paying for film processing) .

  • Business overhead and my personal pay will NOT be subtracted to calculate profit.

  • This commitment of %30 will be backdated to may 25th, the day George Floyd was killed, and will continue for 3 months until August 31st, at which point I will re-evaluate my financial situation and determine at what level I will be able to contribute long term.
